NEW TO ABIDE CHURCH?
Our pastor was called to begin the process of planting Abide Church in October 2023 and we are preparing to launch our Sunday morning Worship gathering in September 2024. Our desire is to see a growing family of Jesus Followers who long to join God in his activity in Dover, the Delmarva Peninsula, and Beyond. We long to reach those far from Christ, so they can come to KNOW CHRIST and MAKE HIM KNOWN! We believe following Jesus is all about relationships and we want to help you take your next step!
WHAT TO EXPECT
During our pre-launch season we are spending our time focusing on Abiding in Christ, Connecting in Community, and Sharing in the Mission. We are gathering weekly to study through the Gospel of Mark followed by small group discussion, prayer, and fellowship! During the Bible Study we have a Kids Class for those in 5th grade and below to engage God's Word and play games together.
Outside of our Bible Study time we are focusing on engaging our city with the Gospel by joining God in His activity through prayer and outreach!
ABIDE IN
CHRIST
Jesus said, “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” At the heart of Abide Church is the desire for every person to KNOW Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We want every person to learn to abide in Christ so they live wholly dependent upon God as he bears fruit through them.
CONNECT IN COMMUNITY
The defining mark of Christ’s life was his love for others. He poured into his disciples and revealed to them how to ABIDE in God so they could live the life God has prepared for them to walk in. His disciple, John, said, “Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.” We were created to live in community to love, encourage, and help one another follow Jesus.
SHARE IN THE MISSION
When we have come to KNOW Christ as our Lord and Savior, we long to MAKE HIM KNOWN! We share in Christ’s mission by sharing our lives and the Gospel with those far from Christ. Jesus said, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free...Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin...So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” We get to share in this mission of watching God save and redeem those far from God.
